 | | Sea Shells Are Perfect Garden AccentsHave you ever wished that you lived near a beach? You know, the kind where you can walk out of your back door and onto pristine white sand that's gently kissed by clear blue waves. Sounds like paradise, right? Well, unfortunately, if you're not lucky enough to have one of those beach houses, it can be tough to turn your backyard into an island paradise. However, there is a cool way for you to make the most of your outdoor space while still staying true to your love of the ocean.
To create a backyard oasis, all you need are some decorative accents, some island inspired furniture, a hammock, some exotic plants, and of course, sea shells. All of these elements, when incorporated into your backyard, are sure to make your vision of a perfect getaway come to life right outside your door. Let's start out with the decorative accents.
Start shopping for things like tiki torches or island-inspired outdoor fireplaces to start creating an atmosphere that just says: vacation. Nautical or tropical-inspired outdoor lights are also great for adding something extra to your outdoor space. Just be sure that they all coordinate together so that it doesn't look overly cluttered.
Next, it's time to start looking at bamboo or woven furniture that offers you a laid back, breezy look. Cover these pieces with fun, island-inspired cushions that can last all year round. Then, set up a hammock between two trees, or if you can't, buy a hammock that offers supports on both sides.
Now it's on to the plants. Find out what exotic plants, or beachy grasses, can survive in your native climate and then start planting. If you find that it would be tough to grow these plants outdoors, try using your enclosed porch as a greenhouse, or simply work with what you have.
Finally, use sea shells to create atmosphere by using them to line your pathways, garden beds, and planters. Maybe even add in a few sea shells that are labeled so that you know exactly where you planted those tomatoes. If you're feeling really creative, look to make an outdoor sea shell wind chime using fishing line, sea shells, some wire, and hot glue. No matter how you choose to use them, sea shells are sure to be the finishing touch on your perfect outdoor paradise.
