Sand Dollars are an All Purpose Beach Wedding Decoration
An ocean or seashell theme is an extremely popular choice for a beach wedding. But you don’t have to be at the beach to use seashells and sand dollars as part of your wedding décor! If you add in a few sand dollars and other ocean concepts during the ceremony, you can compliment that with sand dollars and seashells at the reception. Using sand dollars and an ocean theme is perfect for a couple that enjoys the beach, loves surfing, or just really enjoys the freedom of the ocean and open air.
Sand dollars make gorgeous necklaces
You can invite your guests to join in the ocean theme by creating beautiful necklaces with sand dollars. Simply thread the sand dollars onto fishing line or another thin string and tie the end in a double knot. Have one of the ushers distribute the sand dollars out to guests as they arrive for the ceremony.
Sand dollars as centerpieces and pew decorations
You can bring the ocean theme to your centerpieces, as well. For a simple and elegant look, fill a clear glass vase or bowl with sand and place a candle inside. Arrange sand dollars around the candle to complete the beach scene. And instead of traditional pew bows, you can decorate the ends of the rows with sand dollars. Create an understated bow of white tulle and then add sand dollars in the center.
Sand dollars as ornament favors
Sand dollars make great favors, also. Simply drill a small hole in the top of the sand dollars and string a piece of twine or craft rope through it. Tie the ends in a double know so that it can be hung. If you want to add a personalized touch to the sand dollars, paint the guests’ name on the center. You could paint the names of the couple and the date of the wedding on the sand dollars, as well.
