The Pearl Nautilus is a chambered floating seashell that outgrows its
chamber and builds another larger one directly on top of its existing
chamber then moves in to the new chamber when built. Then seals
off the old chamber adding to its buoyancy, a series of chambers are
built in a spiral using its existing structure; it lives in the last chamber
of the shell. It can sink or float at when need.
The Nautilus Pompilus belongs to the Nautildae family, common in the
western pacific.
