The Black Murex shell has short spines with a short spiral, it is
basically a white shell (the aperture is white) it has a black
appearance because the spines, shoulders and broad spiral
bands are black. The younger seashells are white and the older
shells get darker as they age.
The black murex seashell is common to the Gulf of California
and also is called Hexaplex, Nigritus.
These are very bulky shells and are heavy.
